» Summit reflections

Enjoyed dropping into the Forge Summit over the weekend. Over 500 showed up from around Australia and beyond. The Emerging church is becoming a movement. On the movement lifecycle “birth” occurs when people make a commitment to an idea whose time has come. The next stage in the development of a movement is to make that idea work.

What does that look like? Expressions of church that are effective in leading postmoderns into a vital relationship with God through Christ and into disciple making communities. It means leaders being raised up from amongst those new believers who support and multiply the ministry.

In Luke 4 Jesus announced his kingdom agenda. He cast a vision for a different future. Then he went out and embodied that agenda. Lives were transformed by the power of the gospel. Disciples were made. An idea became a reality and grew. That’s my prayer for the Emerging Church.
