Can’t get it out of my mind
Still mulling over my trip to Asia.
Here’s what I keep thinking about . . .
Over a lunch with “Barney” — the link between the emergence of individuals with an apostolic calling and the emergence of church planting movement.
Lunch, this time with Bill and Steve — the link between bold witness under persecution and power in evangelism.
Tea with a co-worker who led a young woman to Christ two years ago. Now she is leading her friends to Christ, started her own group and plans to train others — it’s the life of Christ in her that made the difference.
Seeing the ten year old boy picking over the garbage late at night. Looking for something to salvage and sell for his family. Not knowing how to respond. The next day meeting the worker who has set up a school for these children to help them and their families break the poverty cycle — the power of God’s love expressed through His people who do something.
A worship service in which I couldn’t understand a thing and yet understood everything — Jesus’ determination to gather his people from every tribe, nation and tongue. With it a call to recruit workers for Asia who know how to make disciples and are willing to obey the Great Commission.
The West is on a collision course with God’s tough love. The church needs to reinvent itself. But even more, we need to rediscover the unstoppable power of God’s love in Christ. As Jesus is lifted up, He will draw all people to Himself.
I want to be a part of that.
