I received news a few days ago that my mother had taken a turn for the worst. She’s been battling cancer for over twelve months. Defying the odds.

Sunday night dad and I were with her as she breathed her last.

Farm-girl, pioneer missionary to Papua New Guinea, wife of 52 years, mother of four, educator, artist, follower of Christ. She was an amazing woman.

Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Cor 15:55-58

    I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Praise God you will see her again.

    “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus.

    Steve – I’m so sorry to read of the passing of your mother. I hate sounding “religious” but its my prayer that the True peace found in Christ will be with you and your familiy at this time and in the days ahead.

    Lionfish, thanks. The funeral was yesterday and it went well. Tears and celebration. God is good. In the face of the reality of death sounding ‘religious’ is a great reassurance.
