» What Glenn’s learning

Just heard from Glenn. He’s heading up a denominational team fueling church planting in his state. They’re part of our Matrix program.

He’s just run their first intensive for eight church planting teams. Not a bad way to kick start a church planting movement.

What’s Glenn learning? Here’s what he gave me:

1. Pray and get people in the denomination to pray – we are asking people to do this every Tuesday for God to renew our movement through the Holy Spirit.
2. Keep talking about church planting in official and non official ways as one of the church’s key strategies—boards, regionals, sermons, rallies, answering pastors questions.
3. Offer events for people to be a part of. Fishing pool events like: ‘So you want to be a church planter’ .
4. Remind people that the growth we are experiencing at the moment is not good enough and we have to try new things to succeed.
5. Remind people that from our heritage was a church planting movement.
6. Get pastors and key people on side by giving books and providing seminars on church planting.
7. Get guests in to reach different target groups. We have two youth speakers coming from Europe.
8. Have a committed church planting team/task force who are active in ideas, encouragement and promoting the above.

BTW if you bump into Glenn don’t tell him I published this without his permission. An old church planters’ saying: it’s always easier to get forgiveness than ask permission.
