Aaron,

I think it's both/and. Paul was directed and prompted by the Spirit and he had a Spirit inspired strategy that we can learn from. I hate formulaes too but I love principles.

Re the link with Bild: I wrote the article on Paul and Bruce 18 years ago. But I appreciate you alerting me to the similarities with Bild. I hadn't heard of them before. Found their website at: www.bild.org

Obviously not a letter from Paul. Sounds more like a letter from Jeff Reed of BILD International. I don't believe that Paul had a "church planting strategy." I do, however, believe that God did and Paul became a servant of that plan to spread the gospel. I do agree with alot of what I have seen so far with BILD. But I admit that my spirit is somewhat troubled by what appears to be the thinking that Paul sat down and conjured up this master plan to spread first century Christianity. Paul was a holy man of God who spake and wrote under God's direction and prompting. Yes we can learn from the patterns we see in scripture, but we must beware of formulas for church growth. A Pastor friend invited me to attend a Leadership workshop from Bild International. I love this pastor friend of mine, but I do have some reservations on the content.

Enjoyed the writing, Steve. This speaks to the DNA of those who are leading churches that plant church-planting churches. Godspeed!
