I truly appreciated this experience as tonight I will face my congregation to let them know that it is time to move on. You gave me an idea for our final service the last Sunday of this month. Pray for us. It has been a small ministry and we've discipled many over the course of 8 years; however, I feel that God is leading me "personally" in another direction, and the souls that are with us now have a foundation in them that will aid them in their new assignment. It is tough, but I believe the timing is now as we anticipate the soon return of our Lord. Helen Kennedy, Fort Lauderdale, FL

Such a helpful story. Thanks for sharing it. Clearly this was not a 'failure' at all. I suspect God has a very different way of looking at what we label a failure from us.

I found myself identifying with much of what was shared in this post. One of the most read posts on my own blog is entitled, "Why So Many Of Our Church Plants Fail" (http://guymuse.blogspot.com/2006/09/why-do-so-many-of-our-church-plants.html) where we examine our own set of issues that have played a role in churches disolving.

You indicated that Johan and Philipa learned a lot about themselves through small group life and that so much can be done with a small group headed in the same direction. I have found that small groups are the crossroads where life and discipleship meet. It is no coincidence that many of these people ended up in some form of ministry.
